The Triple-Source Rule
A finding survives our process only when a classical text, a cross-cultural parallel, and a peer-reviewed study converge on it.
Source one
A primary tradition — Mayamatam, the I Ching, Vitruvius — gives us the hypothesis. We trust it as we'd trust any large body of expert observation: provisionally, and only as far as the next two sources confirm.
Source two
A second tradition, with no historical contact, must reach the same conclusion. When Vastu and Feng Shui agree on a south-facing kitchen, two civilisations are voting in unison without having met.
Source three
And finally, modern science. Without a measurable mechanism — cortisol, sleep latency, air quality, attention restoration — the finding stays in our research log. It does not enter your report.
Where all three meet, we have signal.
Where they don't, we have a question — and we keep it to ourselves.
The Six Traditions

The Sthapatya Veda treats a building as a living organism with eight directional faces. Each face hosts a different elemental quality: water in the north-east, fire in the south-east, earth in the south-west.
We retain the directional logic where modern measurements support it — solar geometry, ventilation patterns, the gravitational stability of load-bearing axes. We discard the deity-specific prescriptions that don't reduce to physics.
Vastu told us where. Science told us why.
Feng Shui maps a home into nine life zones via the Bagua, then asks how chi — circulation, light, sound, sightline — moves between them. The genius is treating a home as a circulatory system rather than a set of independent rooms.
We test those flow claims against environmental psychology and indoor air science. The agreement is closer than skeptics expect: hallways that “leak chi” are usually the ones with poor air-exchange and acoustic privacy.
Two civilisations, no contact, identical answers about doors.
Pythagoras observed that musical harmony, planetary motion, and architectural beauty share the same ratios. The golden ratio (1:1.618), the rule of thirds, and the Vitruvian proportional system descend from this single insight.
Modern neuroaesthetics has put electrodes on that observation. Spaces that follow these proportions produce measurable preference responses across cultures and ages — a rare cross-cultural finding in the field.
A room either holds the body in proportion, or it doesn't.
The youngest of our six traditions, and the one with the strongest empirical backbone. Roger Ulrich's 1984 hospital study showed that patients with a window onto trees recovered 8.5% faster — a result replicated dozens of times.
The field gave us instruments: cortisol assays, EEG arousal, sleep-latency, attention restoration tests. These instruments are how we adjudicate between competing claims from older traditions.
The instruments that made the older traditions testable.
Anton Schneider's 25 principles treat a building as a third skin. Air exchange, moisture, EMF exposure, off-gassing, surface temperature — all measurable, all consequential. Where Vastu speaks of pranic flow, Baubiologie measures it in CFM and ppm.
We carry over the measurement discipline directly. The German DIN standards for indoor air, EMF, and material toxicity sit underneath several of our scoring dimensions.
Old wisdom, German precision, the same answers.
Stephen Kellert's 14 patterns are essentially a contemporary restatement of what every older tradition was reaching for: the human nervous system evolved outdoors and asks the building to remember that.
Biophilic design is therefore both a tradition and a synthesis. We use its 14-pattern taxonomy to align findings from the other five into one coherent vocabulary in your report.

Our Method
Each pass is independent. A finding only survives if all three agree.
i.
Your home's geometry, orientation, and use are run against the directional and proportional logics of all six traditions in parallel. We surface only the rules where at least two traditions agree.
ii.
Each candidate finding is checked against our research library — 147 studies and growing. If no peer-reviewed study confirms the mechanism, the finding is held back.
iii.
What survives is rewritten in plain language and paired with a specific, low-cost remedy. The aim is something you can act on by next weekend.
